Audio Files of the Entire Play!

Actors!

The entire audio file of yesterday’s rehearsal is now available on Moodle. Some voices ring-out more clearly than others, but the majority of lines came through. The file should play on iTunes, and also plays on VLC player if iTunes does not work. The details are on Moodle.

Remember – Scenes 18 – 23 are due on Monday.

A Call for Props

Serom, Gwan Woo, Sean, and Catherine will be building many of the props for Little Miss Gingerbread – but there are a few we can’t build.

If you have any of the items listed below and could lend them to the drama class from now until mid-April, we would very much appreciate it (and give you special mention in the program!). There are pictures on the list of the type of things we are looking for, but we don’t need to match these pictures exactly.

Costume List for Little Miss Gingerbread

For the upcoming play, “Little Miss Gingerbread,” I have done my best to make sure the costumes are easy to assemble at home and are made of things the students probably already have in their closets. Serom, Sean, GwanWoo, and I will build small pieces to add to some costumes.

For a bit of background:

Residents of Antville: Antville is a town of hard workers ruled by a queen. They value uniformity – and so will be wearing our school uniform pants with white shirts. Residents: Queen Hilda, Cuthbert, Cinnamon, Old Man Sassafrass, Maldavia, Dunsten

Residents of Grasshopperville: Grasshopperville is a town of lazy people who treat life like a long vacation. They dress like they are on a beach holiday. Residents: Mayor Cricket, Mr. Dusseldorfer, Katy Did, Hansel, and Gretel

Fortuna is a fortune-teller who is very bad at telling the future.

Eudora is a witch AND a baker, she is very powerful.

Osric is a CRUEL dwarf.

Grendel is an ogre.

Beowulf is the Big Bad Wolf.

Little Miss Gingerbread

LITTLEGING

Students in Grade 5 – 8 are preparing for their Spring Drama Performance: “Little Miss Gingerbread” by Charlie Lovett. The play, which is a ‘twisted fairy tale,’ combines the characters from the tales “The Ant and the Grasshopper”, “Hansel and Gretel”, “Beowulf”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, and others.

Students will perform the play on April 13, 2016 at 7:00 pm.

A letter will be going home with students, soon, about costuming and prop needs. Please keep an eye out for the letter.

We have only 57 days to prepare for the play. Many students will need help at home to learn their lines. Please support their work by reading other roles out loud from their scripts and having the students respond in-character with their lines.

This performance will be produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Denver, Colorado.

Marking a Monologue

When preparing a monologue, after you have read through and feel you have an understanding of the character, the next step is to mark your monologue. By marking pauses and words you wish to emphasize, you ensure that you will memorize the monologue as a performance piece, and not a string of words. This makes memorization easier.
